About
Guerillas is an independent touch club based in Aberdeen. In the summer Aberdeen leagues we have teams registered in men’s and women’s competitions plus mixed experienced, intermediate and novice categories. The club also participates in the Aberdeen autumn league and 1-day weekend tournaments across Scotland.
We are one of the few clubs to offer members the opportunity to compete at whatever level best suits their experience and ability. We are strongly committed to player, coach and referee development and to offering a pathway from complete beginner through to international standard. We offer up to 100% funding for club members who are interested in furthering their coaching and referee skills by attending courses.
The club typically attracts over a dozen new players to the sport each year, mainly through word of mouth, and club members have featured in Scotland touch teams from 2004 onwards. We have an active social scene with several planned (and unplanned!) events through the year.
History
The club was one of the first constituted in Scotland, in 2003, and has gone on to record a number of notable achievements in its years of existence:
· Aberdeen men’s league winners for 10 consecutive seasons;
· Aberdeen Touch Series winners for 5 consecutive seasons;
· Aberdeen Autumn Tournament winners for 4 consecutive seasons;
· Highest local team placing in the Scottish Touch Series, and top 5 finisher in 4 consecutive seasons;
· First club to record a clean sweep of all major Aberdeen league and cup trophies;
· Record numbers of players sent to Scottish national teams.
Training
Training opportunities are available through most of the year, usually indoors or on astroturf in winter and outdoors on grass in summer. However training days, times and locations vary through the year and so if you are interested please get in touch through one of the routes below.
